We have not yet discovered all the small things that orbit our Sun. LSST will detect new comets, asteroids, and dwarf planets. Search LSST data to find one of these new objects and determine its location.


Determining the Characteristics of Minor Planets

Students will search for a moving solar system object and estimate its speed and possible location. They will learn how analysis of the object’s surface color can reveal information about its composition. They will also learn how to estimate its size using color and absolute brightness.
